EMAS and the Heater reflectors project

The Hohenheim Palace

The University of Hohenheim participates in the European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS). As pilot zones, two very challenging exemplary locations were chosen: The Hohenheim Palace and the Experimental Station Meiereihof. The Hohenheim Palace, the heart of the campus, already proposes a challenge due to its protection as a heritage monument. And the Meiereihof is the biggest agricultural private company, which has agreed to dedicate itself, in all its complexity, to the EMAS idea.

Within the EMAS framework and with the support of Greening Hohenheim, the heater reflectors project was implemented. The Energy scouts, a group of students dedicated to energy saving came out with the idea of installing metallic foils between the walls and the heaters in order to stop important energy losses precisely detected at these locations.
